I did a washed out look on some of these, just to give her some options. So I'm loading just a few of the ones I thought turned out alright. Let me know what you think, I'd love some feedback. I know I'm not the best, in fact I felt like a total amateur out there because she picked a popular spot. We ran into about half a dozen other photographers doing Senior pics, and they all had huge flash set ups, helpers holding discs, etc. etc. So yeah, felt like a total beginner out there, so that's why I dont like charging people $. I just like taking pics.

Next week I'm trying something new. A good friend of mine is going on his mission and we decided to do a special 'Missionary' photo shoot. It'll be different cuz we're just going for fun, and I'm hoping lots of girls show up for what I wanna do. So hopefully you'll get to see those soon.

Vampire Prom

Lanisha looked so freaking cute! I was really impressed! She won the costume contest! So in celebration of the new 'Stephanie Meyer' book coming out, our local bookstore threw this Vampire Prom, then afterwards at midnight you could go pick up the book, luckily I pre-paid!

The Vampire Prom turned out AWESOME! It was our last big date before Ryan took off for the Academy, we had such a good time! It was the first time I'd been to a prom when I could actually expect something afterwards... I hired a Photographer for the night and she did a wonderful job.

Can you believe we finished my dress just 2 hours before the prom! We didnt even really have time to fit it to me, so good thing it fit pretty good! I think it turned out great! My mom is AMAZING! She made 3 dresses for this prom and mine was more complicated than a wedding dress, NO JOKE! It had a built in corset and so you had to make about 6 different dress tops to get it all in, sure did help my self esteem to get a more pronounced top.

I'd like to thank my wonderful mother for putting so much sweat and tears into my dress.

I have to thank Judy Dyer for making my hair look absolutely gorgeous! I most especially have to thank the hottest, sexiest, most compassionate man I know, my husband Ryan for putting up with it all. (You did great babe, I love you!) Now he is gone and he wont be home for a couple months, but I will get to visit him in 2 months. I think we're going to get a hotel room and I'm going to bring 'The Office' and order out so we wont have to leave each other's side for the whole week. *sigh*

This boy was jumping on the trampoline, very photogenic. When I told him that the flower on his chest had a pin in it he took it off and put it in his pocket, so I just had to capture that.

Oven Shopping!

I bought my new oven today! Ryan said 'Go pick one out', I really wanted a double oven with the small one on top because I'd use it the most. I cant wait to use the 5 burners! My current oven only has 2 burners and I broke one a couple weeks ago, its really hard to cook with only 1 burner. Also, all other double ovens have the knobs on the cook top, which we didnt like. I believe this is the only double oven with knobs up top. And its convection! I got mine in all black though, I couldn't find a pic of an all black one, but this is the same thing. Cool huh? We'll get it in about 4-6 weeks, it ships on the slow boat!

We drove our rig up there in 2005 with some friends! Back when it was a bronco!

Its not very often that you can drive to this glacier because there's a huge river to cross that has buried many a vehicle, its like the never ending river with big holes in the bottom.

Ice Cold mixed with Hot Springs

My hair was frozen solid!

The Hot Springs were so HOT and the temp. was so COLD!

It was a major teaser on my nerve endings.

They would dive in head first!

Elizabeth was confined to the pool, and a foot long ledge along this side of the pool.

She loved it! She kind of got use to us dunking her in the water, and she would blow bubbles. Oh, she loved getting out of the pool and jumping to us. She looks so chill in this pic.

This is carved out of ice from the inside and on the outside. Its on the banister to the bar.

This was my favorite bed.

People have actually stayed here. It costs around $500.-$600. a night and most people only make it to 3am. You get a regular hotel room included. Seriously, who would pay that much for a crappy nights sleep??? Its beyond me!

We took off on Sunday to Chena Hot Springs! Just got back last night, Wed night. It was AWESOME! We checked out the ice hotel. I didnt bring my big camera with me so I just had to use this good little point and shoot which works surprisingly well.

And that's all I have to say about that. Now you know why I havent posted lately! I've been pretty darn doodily busy! I should be back to normal in 2 weeks. I had Ryan go to the store and stock up on Dr. Pepper to get me through the tax season. I've got my Dr. Pepper, my stash of candy, and my bike is propped up on one of those indoor cycling things.

I'd be willing to take a break for a photo shoot though. Please! Anyone??? I gotta get out of this house.

Actually, we are going to Chena Hot Springs Sunday - Tuesday with our neighbors, so I guess that's a good get away. Does it really make sense though. We're leaving Sunny Windy Palmer (-8 degrees) to go to Cloudy Smoggy Fairbanks (-40 degrees) to warm up in the hot springs. Tell me how that works?

Bridal Shower Cupcakes

So I have a couple friends who are getting married soon, and I wanted to do something cute for their bridal showers.

I found a lady on craigslist who does amazing cakes for any occasion for just the cost of supplies. She's not charging for her labor, which makes it so much cheaper, and she's way more professional than most so-called-pro's.

These are the cupcakes I'm having her do for one of the bridal showers. Arent they just addorable? I love them!

If you want her info let me know, she's trying to get known. So, even if you just want a scruptious cute cake give here a call, then let me come take a picture before you devour it. That's all I ask for giving you her info. Good luck!

Chena Hot Springs

I just came by these pics of Chena Hot Springs!

I cant remember what the temp was, but it was way way below zero, about -50 degrees, as soon as you got out of the water you instantly started to freeze. Good thing the walkways are heated. At Laird Hot Springs in Canada you have that long walk back to the Hot Springs it seems like a mile but I'm sure its only a quarter of a mile.

We went there one time when it was about as cold and when I got out of the water bare foot my skin froze to the ice like when you stick your tongue to frozen metal. It ripped the skin of the soles of my feet, they hurt so bad and of coarse it was my turn to drive in the VW Cabriolet that didnt heat up.

That was miserable.

I'm so addicted to the Trash the Dress (TTD) idea. You can find other photographers who are doing it at http://www.trashthedress.com/ its amazing! So, I cant claim these pics at all, these are just some of my faves, my inspiration.

I'm just waiting for some TTD customers. I would love to do some awesome photos up here in AK. Arent they just inspiring? Makes you wanna fit back into your wedding dress just so can do it, huh?

Tell you what. The first person that approaches me wanting to do a TTD session I'll do it for FREE as long as its alright if I post them on my website and blog. Oh, and you have to say you heard about it on my blog! That's it! Then we'll have tons of fun, we could even wait till Spring and go to Jim Creek, but you have to be willing to get dirty, muddy, and soaked!

My Gingerbread House

Here's my gingerbread house! Ok, so I did put a lot of time into this one and it turned out alright. Marky made me a cinnamon bear on skiis for the roof, then JD decided he wanted one too and had Marky make him a bunch of bears. We were going to go caroling and give them away but we took way too long making them. I ended up giving mine away the next day. I just wanted the pictures. Of coarse!

Gingerbread Houses

This last Christmas we tried making real gingerbread houses. I even made REAL gingerbread from scratch, its not that simple, not for me anyway. So I had to include a picture of my awesome gingerbread before we decorated them.

Ryan really put forth some effort because I wanted him to participate but after building houses all day long for work he didnt really feel like working on more houses. So he built the house, then decorated the top with licorice in the shape of 2 people spooning. How clever!

Marky made a pretty cool one, however it never made it to the finishing stage because it fell apart. As you can see he's not happy with the way it turned out.

It was tons of fun though! I would definately do it again!

The Tord!

This was our 4th of July trip into Eureka with a bunch of friends. It started out great, was tons of fun. Then, as you can see the trip took a turn for the worse. I was in the passenger seat when it caught of fire, Ryan was driving. Of coarse I had a broken wrist, my right wrist was in a cast and sling. And that was wrist I needed to open the door, then jump out. How convenient! It all happened way too fast, and Ryan grabbed the fire extinguisher as he jumped out but for some reason it didnt work. It just seemed to be a series of mis-fortunate events right in a row. The Tord 2 is in progress in the garage right now. It should be ready by spring! YAY!!

My little neighbor girl is so stinking cute! We hang out all the time and she almost knows us as good as her parents, so we joke that I'm her God-Mother. Ok, the snow was a little too much! We had a pretty fun shoot! It was really difficult to shoot in the snow though, just because it was snowing. As if its hard enough to get a good shot of someone who doesnt like to get his picture taken, its even harder when you think you had the perfect shot to find out afterwards that there was a piece of snow falling right in front of the lens or the flash that put a large smudge over the entire photo. Well I tried! We ended up going inside to take the rest of the pics. He did great though!

The Young Women in our Pioneer Peak Ward had their Excellence night a few wee

ks ago. They had women come in and do their hair, makeup, & nails, and they all wore prom dresses so I figured I'd go get their pictures taken as a gift to them and myself, because now I have some more pics to prove my growing talent exists. Thanks girls! Its funny, because they all thanked me after having so much fun posing for the camera, but really I should have been thanking them, they were blast to work with and so cute to boot!

Here's a few portraits that I've taken since last year. Some of them have been edited already and some have not. I'll try to put up a Before & After shot of my editing techniques soon. I'm taking a young man's portrait this afternoon. He's 13 y.o. and prefers winter. Above are some pics of his sister who wanted summer time pics. We just got over a foot of snow last night so this guy is really excited to get pictures in his favorite atmosphere. I'll post them as soon as can.

Last weekend it was actually warm enough to go outside and play or watch other people play. My husband and I went to Thunderbird Falls to go Ice Climbing. We walked all the way in with our bags full of gear and our friends came along with their son just over the age of 1. When we found the falls we wanted to climb we started getting ready, then we realized we left half the gear in the car. So due to the short winter days we couldnt hike back to the car and back in to make it worth the trip. It was an enjoyable walk though, and I got to take a few pics of other climbers. Maybe next weekend if its warm enough!!
